Villányi Franc, Vylyan, 2012, Red-wine from Hungary

6 points

In reference to my previous review of Villányi Franc by Vylyan vintage 2011 I also tried the 2012 vintage. 2012 wasn’t a good year for any southern Hungarian wine as far as I understood.

Nevertheless this Cabernet Franc is still very good. It is less strong than the 2011 vintage because the very rich complexity which makes the 2011 so special is less rich. All described notes and aromas are still present although all comes along a little bit less exciting. Fruity notes are a bit sourer and less bounded to the rest of the wine.

It remains a wonderful, basic and delicious Cabernet Franc, not baroque but gothic.
