Brasserie Warszawska, Restaurant, Warsaw, Poland

4 points

Just a quick dinner at Brasserie Warszwaska tonight in Warsaw. This little restaurant in the style of a French Bistro – quite often awarded and multiple recommended by different professional associations as Michelin – seems to be a place rather for lunch than dinner. It is Monday and similar to many other places this is not the busiest evening in general.

As much as it may look like a French bistro – rather in Los Angeles than in Paris – it is a beautiful, smaller but comfortable and selected place.

The dinner was quick indeed since the place closes already at 10 pm (pretty early, but its seems the neighborhood shuts down even earlier): appetizer, appetizer as a main course and some dessert:

The salad actually was the best dish of tonight. Chicory, a tender, light and very tasty dressing together with the blue cheese and walnuts. This salad was really delicious although of course nothing special or even inspirational.

Tatar: Just ok in my mind. Too much pepper and without some extravagance: however solid and meat wise for sure excellent quality. The glass of wine I took aside – Anwilka Stellenbosch from South Africa (which they offer by glass which is great !) – was better than the dish.

The wine selection of the Brasserie is pretty impressive. Majority of wines are from France, but they have a nice collection also of some – even – German wines, of course from Italy but also Southern Africa. Most of the sweet wines are from Tokaji. I finished my dessert with a lovely drop of a Pajzos Tokaji from 1999.

Brasserie Warszawaska is a good place to go but nothing really special in my mind. Solid and satisfying.

Please find additional information about the restaurant at their impressive webpage: http://www.brasseriewarszawska.pl/www/. The website does give the impression that the place is much larger than it is in reality.
